FILM PROGRAM
CINEMA AS CULTURAL MEMORY
Cinema as a form of cultural memory is a subsection of the WOMEN’S POWER program in which we highlight several true stories that got acknowledgement in remarkable films that were recently made by talented female directors from Eastern Europe.
DOCUMENTARIES OPEN DEBATES
Important stories, new voices, relevant questions; all are to be found in our selection of documentary films.
LIVE TALK ON WOMEN’S POWER
Join Live Talk with the filmmakers Antoneta Kastrati from Kosovo (director of ZANA), Dana Budisavljevic from Croatia (director of THE DIARY OF DIANA B.) and Katalin Barsony from Hungary (director of HOW FAR THE STARS). Moderated by Margje de Koning on November 12 at 17:00 hours.
MASTERCLASS BY DRAGOS TUREA
The director from the Republic of Moldova Dragoș Țurea will reflect on his documentary THE SOVIET GARDEN, done in a coproduction of Romania and Moldova. The masterclass will be moderated by Otto Boele – senior lecturer on Russian cinema and literature at Leiden University, on November 11 at 16:00 hours.
NEW TALENTS COMPETITION
Get ready for the ENFF New Talents Competition, our first ever competitive program! This year we invited young filmmakers with their first or second film after school to compete for an Audience Award. We were delighted to receive 83 submissions from all over Eastern and South Eastern Europe. Watch 8 selected films and vote for your favourite one on our social media from 1-8 November!
WOMEN’S POWER
This year we have a strong female line-up in our special program Women’s Power. The directors bring new topics to be discussed, or they look at the known from a different angle, and their films serve also as an inspiration to the empowerment of the female population in their societies.
