Synopsis

Mare has never flown, although she lives right next to the airport. Life is passing by along with planes while she is busy taking care of her husband and their three teenage kids. She wants to go to the cinema, or at least back to work, but the family budget and duties keep her home. However, her needs and desires go beyond the domestic household. Mare finds herself tracing at the planes overhead, longing for change and the unknown. One day a young foreigner moves into the house next door, and her fidelity is suddenly challenged. Observing tenderly its heroine, Andrea Staka’s film silently and sensitively depicts female craving for private space outside of the family environment. Without conveying bold feminist statements, “Mare” interprets the mid-life crisis subject from an exclusively feminine viewpoint.
