Sejo, Zenit and Nele are revisiting important times, events and places connected to their rock band Zabranjeno pusenje aka No Smoking.
Synopsis
The history of the famous Yugoslavian rock band through stories of its three first members, Sejo Sexon, Nele Karajlic and Zenit Djozic. Their story is emblematic of what happened in Yugoslavia in the last 30 years. The film revisits the time of New Primitivism, famous TV show Top Lista Nadrealista and old concerts of Zabranjeno pusenje. The documentary provides great archive material, old important stories that help us understand the spirit of the time when the movement New Primitivism was founded. It was a subcultural movement established in Sarajevo in 1983 that, as a form of expression, used primarily music, comic sketches and witty dialogues in their shows on radio and television. They were openly critical, sharp and always entertaining. Their topics evolved around small, common Bosnian men and they could precisely spot weak points of the Yugoslav society with humour and a sting.
Sejo, Zenit en Nele kijken terug op belangrijke tijden, gebeurtenissen en plaatsen uit de tijd van hun rockband Zabranjeno Pušenje (niet roken in het Bosnisch).
Verhaal
Door de verhalen van de eerste drie eerste leden Sejo Sexon, Nele Karajlic en Zenit Đozić leren we de geschiedenis van deze beroemde Joegoslavische rockband. Hun verhaal staat symbool voor wat er de afgelopen 30 jaar in Joegoslavië is gebeurd. De documentaire bevat geweldig archiefmateriaal en vertelt belangrijke verhalen die ons helpen de tijdgeest te begrijpen waarin de beweging New Primitivisme werd opgericht; vanaf 1983 bracht deze subculturele beweging hun boodschap over door muziek, sketches en geestige dialogen op radio en tv. . Altijd waren ze openlijk kritisch, scherp en onderhoudend. Met kritische humor wist zij hun vinger op de zere plek van de Joegoslavische samenleving te leggen, waarbij het onderwerp meestal de kleine, gewone Bosnische man was.
