Synopsis

In a country where the Olympics have brought countless gold medals, Andreea Raducan is an icon. Since Nadia Comaneci reached the top of the Olympic mountain, for decades Romania has consistently delivered exceptional gymnasts. But only Andreea got as close as possible to Comanci’s performance. It happened in Sydney in 2000 when, aged 16, she became the all-around gold Olympic champion.

The film documents the pain and the complex personal consequences triggered by a dramatic turn of events. Three days later, testing positive for a substance found in a flu tablet given by her doctor, the Olympic committee stripped her of her medal. Although soon officially cleared of any wrongdoing, Andreea was never reinstated as champion. 18 years later and a strong, inspiring, confident woman, she opens up about her trauma and is challenging the Olympic establishment in Geneva.
