THE SON

In her second feature, an award-winning Bosnian director Ines Tanovic follows a family that is broken by internal tensions while trying to survive in transitioning society. The opening film of Sarajevo FF 2019. Great performances of well-known actors Snezana Bogdanovic, Uliks Fehmiu, Emir Hadzihafizbegovic, Jasna Ornela Beri and discovery of the young Dino Bajrovic.

Synopsis

Arman is about to turn 18. He is full of angst and unhappy about not knowing who his biological parents are. He was adopted as a baby by Jasna and Senad, who could not have children of their own. However, the family got a biological son afterwards. Throughout his entire life, Arman is having a hard time coping with being an adopted child. In search for his identity and real mother, he is constantly fighting the demons of his past. At the same time, he tries to protect his younger brother Dado from all the challenges of modern Bosnian society – drugs, weapons, going to the war zones in the Middle East.
